Alyson graduated from Princeton University in 2000 and joined Teach For America in 2002, teaching upper elementary in the Alum Rock School District of San Jose, California. During this time she pursued her Masters in Education and was awarded a national teaching honor. Taken on as Program Director for Teach For America Philadelphia’s high schools, working closely with teachers and administrators on management, instruction and professional development.
In 2005 Alyson led the district placement of teachers in local public and charter schools and designed, implemented and managed a corps-wide culture plan to ensure maximum retention and progress of teachers.
In 2007 Alyson attended Oxford’s Saïd Business School with a focus in social enterprise management. She graduated with distinction and returned to her hometown of Philadelphia to launch the school collective whilst consulting for the School District of Philadelphia. She is also an active board member for several education organizations and schools in the Philadelphia area.
Sebastian graduated in Industrial Design (with honors) from Northumbria University in 1998 and worked for several leading product, architectural and graphic design consultancies in the US, UK and Netherlands. He then ran his own consultancy, albooto, both to work with external clients and to develop in-house ideas and bring them to market.
He has won national and international design innovation awards, been granted several patents and has extensive experience in taking products from concept stage, through investment, to full market launch, including recently raising investment from the BBC’s Dragons Den in 2011.
In 2008 Sebastian was awarded his MBA from Said Business School with a focus in innovation and strategic management, where he was also invited to the Dean’s list. Since setting up the school collective with Alyson in 2009, Sebastian has been responsible for creating an online platform that fundamentally changes the way professional development is managed.
